ArcGIS Online

ArcGIS Online is an online, collaborative web GIS that allows you to use, create, and share maps, scenes, apps, layers, analytics, and data. It is included in the ESRI Site License at York University.   The licence is financed by the ESRI License Partners (Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, Lassonde School of Engineering, and York University Libraries). Commercial use and/or for-profit uses are not allowed.

ArcGIS Online for Individual Use

All current faculty, staff, student, and faculty associated with the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, or Lassonde School of Engineering have access to the basic and premium features, as well as individuals can request access to additional products and trials from ArcGIS Marketplace if required. Librarians and staff working at York University Libraries also have access to the premium version of ArcGIS Online.

Individuals from the other Faculties are not eligible for the premium products or the additional products.

Please note, when a student or a faculty/staff member departs York University, they will no longer have access to their ArcGIS Online accounts.

The current annual license term runs from November 19, 2023 to November 18, 2024

ArcGIS Online for Courses

Instructors teaching a course in the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, or Lassonde School of Engineering are eligible to use ArcGIS Online for teaching purposes (course assignments and projects).   Courses offered by other Faculties are not eligible to use ArcGIS Online. For a course to eligible the associated Faculty must be an ESRI License Partners.

Accounts are created by an ArcGIS Online administrator for each student in the course and the accounts once the semester is completed. Course instructors are also provided with the ability to view the student content.
